Hermosa Beach

Hermosa Beach is the place to go for fun.

Welcome to Hermosa Beach

A lively beach community

“Hermosa” means “beautiful” in Spanish, and Hermosa Beach certainly lives up to its name! Located about forty minutes southwest of Los Angeles, Hermosa Beach spans 40 blocks (North to South) and is split down the middle by Pacific Coast Highway. It’s one of the three Beach Cities (including Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach).

Hermosa Beach is the place to go for fun, outdoor activities and bustling nightlife. Lay on the beach or paddleboard in the gorgeous Pacific Ocean. More of a land person? No problem! Hermosa is excellent for running, walking, or bike riding. It’s also an ideal place to gather with friends for dinner and drinks.

Hermosa’s seaside location makes for a prime real estate market. The average price of homes in Hermosa circles around $2 million, with many homes decorated in a beach bungalow style. Beautiful cottages located in a vibrant, exciting beach town? Well worth the price.

  • The gorgeous, wide beach
  • The active lifestyles

People & Lifestyle

Hermosa Beach is the ideal beach town. Full of options and activities, its natural beauty makes for a tranquil lifestyle. Flip flops and salty hair are definitely in style when you’re in Hermosa.

Hermosa Beach has something for everyone but is especially fun for young singles and couples. It’s a community rife with people looking to be outside and have fun. A typical day might include surfing, followed by sandy toes at a beach bar. The school system is also robust, making it an incredible community for families.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Are you looking for a fun place in a beautiful setting? Look no further than Hermosa Beach. Known for its giant pier and variety of bars, it’s the ideal community for a fun-loving beach-goer.

Pier Ave is perhaps Hermosa’s largest attraction. Running from the downtown center down to the ocean pier, it’s full of shops and restaurants. Want to stay active? Soho Yoga offers in-studio classes, as well as beachside and virtual classes. You’ll leave feeling rejuvenated!

Need a post-yoga treat? Take yourself out to an upscale Mexican lunch at Palmilla Cocina Y Tequila. Go ahead, order that refreshing margarita and those crispy short rib tacos! Looking for something more casual? Hermosa is home to many well-known bars. Grab a pint at Hennessy’s Tavern, or head over to the famous Comedy & Magic Club for some comedy!

Things to Do

Hermosa Beach is a tight-knit community with plenty of local traditions. Outdoor sports are, of course, a staple. But there are also plenty of cultural and artistic opportunities.

Into music? Hermosa Beach has you covered! Their annual summer concert series features a variety of musical artists. You’ll dance your tail off! Not a big dancer? The AVP Tournament— one of the world’s premier volleyball tournaments—draws thousands of people every year. Watch some of the best volleyball stars compete right on the beach.

A more low-key yet classic Hermosa experience is the farmers' market. Stroll down to this beach market for some local produce. The market is weekly, on Fridays from noon to 4 PM. And if you’re not eager to cook right away, you can always grab food at a nearby, beachside restaurant.

Schools

Hermosa Beach is home to numerous excellent schools. Top educational opportunities include:

  • Hermosa View Elementary School
  • Mira Costa High School
